From Laser Engravings To Facebook Posts

One of my first engraving on canvas was of a big cat

Hello there! I’m Severna, the guy behind the YouTube channel Severna Builds, where I mix laser engraving and DIY creativity into projects that anyone can learn from.

It all started this year, 2025, on Facebook, where I’d share quick photos of small builds and shop experiments. Those posts started getting attention, and soon people were asking for more details like what tools I used, how I set up my laser, and what settings actually worked. That’s when the wife realized I could turn my passion into something bigger.

So, I launched Severna Builds on YouTube, a channel built for makers who love learning through real projects, not just theory. My early videos were simple, but over time I found my groove creating tutorials that show the process step by step, including my many mistakes, fixes, and tricks that make a project come together.

One of my best-known series is engraving photos on painted canvas using the xTool S1. It started as an experiment after seen a couple of videos on Youtube, and turned into one of the most popular laser engraving tutorials I have made so far. Since then, I’ve expanded into other laser projects, rotary engraving, and laser maintenance, always keeping it practical, honest, and fun.

Now, through both YouTube, Facebook and this blog, my goal is to share everything I’ve learned, from creative inspiration to tool reviews and behind-the-scenes looks at the builds that didn’t always go as planned.

If you’re into DIY, laser engraving, or just making cool stuff, you’ll feel right at home here.
